We’re only 8 days out from the National Conference of the National Fluid Power Association, the organization’s premier annual event. If you don’t yet have your flight to Phoenix booked, I suggest you get on it as soon as possible! This year’s conference has the theme “Succeeding in an Increasingly Competitive Environment” and the lineup of speakers is impressive. Here are what you’ll be missing if you don’t some out to Scottsdale next week:
1. Rob Atkinson. Rob is the author of Innovation Economics: The Race for Global Advantage and will be a featured speaker at the conference. He’ll be looking at the big picture of whether the U.S. can continue to foster an environment where innovation flourishes—and what manufacturers can do to better support this process.
2. Networking with fluid power peers. There’s no better place to do it!
3. Hearing how everyone is a CEO. Billy Ray Taylor, the Director of Commercial Manufacturing for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., will be explaining why it’s critical to empower your staff. Billy, who has more than 20 years of experience in all phases of manufacturing management and leadership, will be discussing with attendees how to drive results in your manufacturing operation via strategic deployment and tactical execution.
4. Private tutoring! Richard Kolsky, a lecturer at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, if famous for his “WIN-WIN-WIN” methodology and process. The NFPA is offering “office hours” with Richard on Friday afternoon, March 8, for private consultations. A limited number of slots are available for attendees to discuss distribution channel issues.
5. The forecast for next Wednesday is 80 degrees and mostly sunny. That—combined with golf, beautiful desert landscapes and myriad excursion options—makes this conference a slam dunk.
If you can’t make it, I’ll be live Tweeting from Scottsdale next week. Follow me at @DW_Editor.
