Pressure regulator for compact, low pressure applications

The Challenge: Find a pressure regulator with excellent performance and small enough to fit in the limited space within the product. The regulator must have the ability to control low output pressures (under 5 psi), have low mass, and be corrosion resistant.

Possible Approaches: Custom regulators are expensive and are unlikely to meet cost targets. Another option is to specify an inexpensive regulator that is not fully suited to this application. It is easy to find inexpensive regulators, but these will likely result in long term problems including downstream pressure spikes, excessive size, weight, and performance issues.

The Solution: The Beswick PRDB-2N6 miniature pressure regulator, with high resolution diaphragm cap. The PRDB-2N6 can accurately sense low pressures below 5 psi because of its 1.875 in. diaphragm, which is relatively large compared to the small size of the regulator, along with a patented valve design for high performance. A unique spring configuration minimizes height to only 0.83 in., while the whole regulator weighs a mere 78 grams.
