Clippard EVPD proportional valve driver offers plug-and-play control

Pneumatic valve manufacturer Clippard Instrument Laboratory, Inc. (www.clippard.com) has unveiled the EVPD Proportional Valve Driver, which is specifically developed as a plug-and-play interface between its EVP Series Proportional Control Valves and PLCs as well as other controls.

Ideally suited for laboratories and OEM product development, the EVPD series can also be customized to suit OEM applications and control parameters.

Offering unrivalled value in two-way proportional control, the EVPD can easily be integrated with existing machine controls while delivering user-adjustable parameters. Customers can select from the EVPD series’ three valve output ranges and five signal outputs.

Compared to other controls, the compact proportional valve driver offers enhanced response time and performance as well as tremendous flexibility with various installations. These features enable engineers to concentrate on system control solutions rather than on simple valve control.

The EVPD series is also available in two configuration options — enclosed housing or standalone PCB. Its tuning adjustments enable users to regulate the command signal required to start opening the valve; adjust the valve’s opening current; and control the valve’s maximum current to limit the valve maximum opening, effectively preventing current beyond the rating of the valve solenoid. The settings are utilized by the valve management software within the micro-controller and the driver current feedback to determine command instructions to the PWM controller.

With a proportional flow of up to 22 slpm @ 100 psig, the EVPD’s power input requirement has been specified since supply voltage varies for each EVP valve. Voltages supplied beyond the specified ranges could result in valve malfunctioning. Valve voltage specification determines power input requirements.
