SAUGET, Ill. – Universal Air Filter® has announced that its products meet the European Union’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) standards.
The EU Regulation No. 1907/2006, REACH, is gaining momentum and becoming required from more and more manufacturers. All products made by Universal Air Filter, including metal components treated with special finishes for corrosion protection, meet the new REACH standards and do not contain any substance or chemical listed on the EU’s Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) list.
“We try to make the best products for our customers and that includes making them as environmentally friendly as possible,” said Mike Miano, engineering and sales manager at UAF. “In the next year or so, you will see an even larger focus on environmental standards in our industry and we will do our best to stay on the forefront of that trend.”
This new compliance is coupled with the Restrictions of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliance, which Universal Air Filter products have been meeting since it became law in the EU in 2006. This put a ban on hazardous substances from all new electrical or electronic equipment, including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBBs and PBDEs.
