Selecting valves made easier with new white paper

Proportional solenoid valves offer important advantages in the right applications, and while they’re considered more complicated than other valves, a new whitepaper makes their selection simple. Download the paper here from Numatics, Incorporated.

Proportional valves — which change outputs in proportion to their input value — provide dependable, cost-effective, compact solutions for fast response and consistent control at relatively low flow rates. According to the new paper, “Pneumatic Proportional Valve Selection Made Simple,” the technology is ideal where precise performance is required in variable pressure and flow applications.

When selecting proportional valves, the paper advises users to evaluate their choices carefully, considering application demands, type of control required, valve service life, and useful new technologies such as software-based digital tuning. Weighing these factors in making a final proportional valve selection can help save time, effort, and cost.

The paper further recommends that prospective purchasers consider several key questions early in the application development process, including:

  • Is the intended application suitable for a proportional valve?
  • Does the application require an air-piloted or a direct-acting model?
  • Would a proportional valve with special capabilities — such as software-based tuning — help?

“Pneumatic Proportional Valve Selection Made Simple” provides details and examples to each of these questions — as well as outlines the steps needed to ensure selection of the correct valve for a designer’s or user’s needs.
