Hauppauge, N.Y.—Festo proximity sensors SMT-/SME-10M are applicable to a wide range of drive units and offer a new dimension of reliability and cost effectiveness. The long cylinder-style sensors detect the position of magnets fitted to pneumatic drives.
The wide selection of cable lengths makes customer assembly unnecessary and speeds-up installation. Through cable quality and connection technology SMT-/SME-10Ms deliver maximum application versatility.
Sturdy central mounting guarantees that the sensor is securely mounted in the slot. Vibration, shock, and tensile forces applied to the cable will neither cause the sensor to come loose, nor will these forces lead to unreliable sensor functioning. Even critical applications over long periods of time are safely under control: all SMT-/SME-10M reed switches are equipped with internal protection circuits to increase service life. Cable quality makes these sensors suitable for drag-chain as well as robotic applications, thus ensuring dependability and process reliability in these applications.
A secure, efficient solution
These sensors do not protrude beyond the cylinder slot, making compact applications possible. Internal protective circuits ensure maximum reliability for critical applications. These sensors can be mounted from above at the central attachment point using a standard Allen key 0.06-in. (1.5 mm). This mounting position ensures that sensors hold firmly, even when subjected to vibration or tensile loads.
A cable clip securely locks the cable in the slot and prevents failures due to wire breaks. Sturdy cable anchoring supports tensile forces up to 40N. Markings on the housing showing sensing element position allow easy adjustments. These units conform to protection classes IP65/68. Connection technology includes M8 threads, M8 snap-in, M12, and open leads. Cable lengths are available up to 98.4 ft (30 m). An extensive array of accessories is available, including kits for round and tie rod cylinders, connecting cables, T-pieces, and cable clips in packs of 10.
