Proportional valve series provides frictionless operation

Humphrey-PC3-Inline_mainphotoA new line of proportional valves is available from Humphrey Products Co., Kalamazoo, Mich. The ProControl proportional valves, like all Humphrey deigns, are two-port, normally closed, direct acting spring return type flow controllers. They feature an inert construction for a variety of multimedia uses and a frictionless flat-spring armature design that results in long, trouble-free and high flow characteristics.

Because they act as electronic flow controllers, proportional valves allow users to vary the input current to the solenoid and the output flow of the valve accordingly. The higher the input current, the higher the flow will be through the valve. They are typically used to dynamically dispense controlled amounts of air or gas, control downstream pressures or to accelerate or decelerate air cylinders.

Humphrey’s latest valve line controls up to 24 lpm, with three orifice sizes—0.025, 0.040, and 0.060 in. The 0.025 in. can be specified with a maximum pressure rating of 25, 50 or 100 psi.

The new ProControl valves feature a simple, compact body and frictionless design that doesn’t use any sliding parts that will wear out, create variability or eventually fail. They offer high resolution to overcome stiction and inertia, thus providing high end-gain and faster responsiveness.

These valves precisely control air or gas flow using DC current, open- or closed-loop control or Pulse With Modulation. Its response is accurate and consistent to any adjustment of current with low hysteresis and improved control in either direction of flow.
ProControl valves can also control reagents and corrosive fluids, featuring a plated valve armature and body to process corrosive media.

All wetted surfaces are inert materials with tight sealing characteristics. Stainless-steel wetted materials also available for water and corrosive liquids. These valves are RoHS and REACH compliant.
