Latching solenoid valves for limited power applications

Humphrey’s new L-310 latching solenoid valve.

Humphrey Products, Kalamazoo, Mich., introduced its L310 Latching Solenoid Valve Series, which is based on its balanced-poppet, direct-acting 310 solenoid valve design. It offers  low power consumption and low heat generation, for potentially tremendous energy savings over traditional solenoid valves applications where power is limited or coil heating is unwanted.

Standard single solenoid valves require electrical power while holding the valve in the energized position. The L310 Latching Valve needs a 50-msec pulse to shift from one position to another.  Power is removed and the latching function holds the position, offering significant energy savings for applications when the valve remains open for long periods of time. Continuous power is not required to maintain the energized position, especially beneficial for battery-powered applications or when continuous power supply is limited.

Because it does not require electrical power to maintain the actuated position, the coil heat rise is temporary and minimized. This makes it ideal for applications where the effect of the temperature is a concern.

Developed for maximum utility, each 3-port solenoid valve meets a variety of functions with its multi-purpose classification. Plus, Humphrey’s stringent requirements for extremely low leak rates still apply — designed and tested 4ccm max at 80psi.

Other features include:

  • 2- or 3-way
  • Diverter or Selector
  • RoHS and REACH Complaint
  • Applicable for the full pressure range to 80psi, including vacuum
