Dry claw vacuum pumps are economically and environmentally friendly

Clean technologies are of particular importance in vacuum technology — because they are economically advantageous and environmentally friendly. With this in mind, Atlas Copco has developed the DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ dry, oil-free claw pumps which are powerful, energy-efficient and easy to control and maintain. By using them, users can save costs, also because fewer resources are consumed.

Typical areas of application for the vacuum pump are CNC routing, pneumatic conveying systems and central vacuum systems, for example in hospitals. There, the oil-free, air-cooled DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ series work reliably over a long service life.

“The DZS VSD+ are simple and modular in design,” said Ahmed Elshaffie, the responsible product manager. “{They consist of the pump and gear chambers, which are separated by seals. Their energy-efficient, low-wear operation is based on a special coating of the wetted parts and rotors as well as their simple operating principle. Two claws rotate contactlessly in opposite directions in the pump housing. This draws air into the pump chamber, compresses it and expels it again under pressure. In the gear chamber, two gear wheels synchronize the claw rotation. The non-return valve in the inlet flange prevents air from flowing back into the vacuum chamber when the pump is switched off. The pumps are driven directly by a flange-mounted motor via a coupling.”

With their integrated VSD+ inverter drive with pressure setpoint control, the vacuum pumps can be operated at high rotor speeds. The motor speed adapts to the process load in an energy-efficient manner. “The DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ models can run continuously at their ultimate vacuum level without overheating,” added Elshaffie.

Another important advantage is their variable use, as the compact pumps take up very little installation space in rough vacuum applications.

With the help of the Atlas Copco VSD+ app for iOS and Android devices, users can control and monitor the DZS VSD+ series via their smartphone and thus access relevant parameters in real time at any time. Another benefit: the app also makes it easier to commission the series by setting the target pressure, start/stop delay and stop level. All users have to do is start the pump, connect the VSD+ app via Bluetooth and enter the desired parameters.

“We have been using the robust, reliable claw technology in vacuum technology and other areas for many years,” Elshaffie said. “With the DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ models, Atlas Copco therefore offers a simple, reliable pump that can support customers in their processes for a long time without
interruption.”

Important features of the DZS VSD+ models at a glance

  • Vacuum relief valve: prevents overheating in the ultimate vacuum over a long
    running time
  • Inlet non-return valve: Isolates the pump from the process when switching off
  • The silencer reduces the noise generated by the pump in the working environment
  • An integrated VSD+ inverter drive regulates the pressure setpoint
  • The PEEKCOAT coating protects process-wetted parts and rotor
  • Control at the touch of a button via the Atlas Copco VSD+ app.
