The Transair business unit of Parker Hannifin has announced the next evolution in compressed air piping with its new Condition Monitoring Technology, which lets end-users track the status of their compressed air piping systems. The setup uses sophisticated wireless sensors to monitor a compressed air piping network, alert users to system changes, and provide critical data that helps to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
A user-friendly web-based interface makes it straightforward for technicians and operators to view and analyze data to ensure the system is running at optimum levels for pressure, power, temperature, humidity and flow. A 4 to 20 mA wireless transmitter allows other equipment to be connected to the system to make their data available at the interface.
Monitoring this information aids plant personnel in identifying and addressing performance issues before damage to expensive equipment occurs. The Transair Condition Monitoring System helps keep overall costs down by avoiding unnecessary downtime and prolonging the life of job-critical equipment, according to company officials.
“Being able to accurately monitor this data is critical for end-users, because compressed air systems are very complex and tend to expand over time,” said Guillaume Tétard, Transair business unit manager. “Our state-of-the-art wireless solution enables operators to monitor their compressed air system 24 hours-a-day through a web-based dashboard. Providing a quick snapshot plus a complete in-depth analysis of the demand of a compressed air system with fully customizable alerts forewarns plant personnel of any performance changes, allowing service technicians to address maintenance issues before they result in higher maintenance costs and unscheduled downtime.”
The Transair monitoring system augments Parker’s already popular Transair high-performance aluminum piping system. Used in a wide range of industries, Transair’s corrosion-resistant, guaranteed leak-free components and ‘full bore’ design reportedly make it ideal for use with compressed air, vacuum and inert gas systems, ensuring long-term, consistently clean, quality air.
“With Transair’s lightweight components and quick-connect interlocking design, labor is kept down to just 20% of overall installation costs, saving money from the start,” Françoise Lunel, Transair communication manager said. “Pairing a Transair system with the Transair Condition Monitoring System will further a company’s savings by helping to identify ways to increase air efficiency, decrease maintenance costs and prevent unwanted scrap, thus reducing a plant’s overall costs.”
