The new PRG 2-Finger Radial Gripper from SCHUNK combines high gripping moments with small dimensions. The integrated pneumatic oval piston drive guarantees maximum power density.
Radial gripping motions are often achieved by integrating a slotted link gear. Existing links cause an extreme reduction in the gripping moment, if the opening angles are rather small. SCHUNK has found a solution for such an application; the patented Single-Pin guide rail which ensures a constant closing moment throughout the gripping range. The new PRG did not change in dimensions and can reliably grip larger workpieces or workpieces with a larger tolerance range. In addition, innovative dampening, which is directly integrated in the drive rod, allows short cycle times and a much longer admissible finger length.
The multifunctional PRG has an adjustable stroke to fit the individual application and is also available with a gripping force safety device, in a high-temperature version and with three different opening angles (30° / 60° / 90°). The end position can be optionally monitored by inductive proximity switches or magnetic switches.

Pressure Sensor Designed For Pneumatic Applications

Ifm’s compact PQ Series pressure sensors are designed for pneumatic applications typically found in robotics and material handling applications. The sensors precisely measure the full range of pressure and vacuum typical in these applications.
The cube-shaped pneumatic pressure sensor easily retrofits traditional pressure switches at a fraction of the price. Measuring only 32mm x 30mm x 42mm, the compact sensor can be installed in areas with limited mounting space.
Application parameters are established using two pushbuttons. The bright, four-digit display indicates system pressure and can be clearly seen from long distances. The sensor features two programmable switching outputs or one switching and one diagnostic output. In addition, the values can be programmed to change color depending on the switching output status (e.g., red if output 1 is switched; green if output 1 is not switched).
The technology is based on a piezo-resistive measuring element. The silicon measuring cell is insensitive to liquids (e.g. condensed water) and deposits that might occur in the system. The cell changes resistance when pressure is applied. The stress induced in the cell is transformed into an electric signal that is proportional to the pressure. The silicon measuring cell guarantees a high overload resistance as well as an accuracy of ± 0.5%.
For mounting purposes, the PQ pressure sensor can be fixed to flat surfaces and profiles using the sensor’s two M4 drill holes located in the front of the sensor. The PQ can be mounted to a DIN rail or connected to plates or manifolds using ifm’s robust DIN rail bracket. The sensor can be connected to air lines through the G-1/8 port using a 6mm or 8mm tubing adapter or a 1/8″ NPT adapter.
Two models are available. PQ7809 has a measuring range of -14.5 to 14.5 psi and the PQ7834 has a measuring range of -14.5 to 145 psi. Electrical connection is made through an M8 Pico DC connector.
Air Preperation Unit Allows Oil Mist To Travel Up To 40m

Parker Hannifin is releasing a new product into its air preparation systemts. Moduflex Lite systems combine lightweight and corrosion-resistant construction with nano lubrication technology that allows oil mist to travel up to 40m along the air line as opposed to a maximum of only 15m with more traditional lubricators. This makes it easier and more affordable to optimise the efficiency, productivity and reliability of pneumatic applications.
Moduflex Lite systems are made from upscale technopolymers, so they are highly corrosion-resistant and up to 45 per cent lighter than conventional alternatives. An injection moulded body results in improvements to the system’s internal flow paths, providing flow performance up to 30 per cent better than similarly sized units. Moduflex Lite systems can therefore often be used to replace larger, more expensive units.
The nano lubricator supplies a constant, extremely fine oil mist that improves system lubrication while extending the intervals between refills and reducing oil consumption. Furthermore, the ability to extend the distance between the lubricator and pneumatic equipment from 8m up to 40m opens up many new opportunities for efficient system design.
Moduflex Lite units feature a universal bowl that is chemically resistant and suitable for a wide range of applications. This allows users to lower their costs and simplify stock management with a single multi-purpose system. Additionally, the system’s innovative technopolymer construction enables it to withstand aggressive media and environments, making it versatile and enabling synthetic oils and glycol-based anti-freeze to be used.
