piab1Hingham, Mass.—Piab has launched its piCOMPACT10 range, the first manifold-mounted and functional ejector system on the market based on the energy-efficient MICRO COAX technology. By working at low feed pressure and maximizing the usage rate of the compressed air, the COAX ejectors reduce energy consumption for manufacturers while increasing productivity and reliability. Products in the piCOMPACT10 range are suitable for pick-and-place operations where efficient handling of small, heavy parts is crucial, common for electronics, semiconductor, plastics, metal and medical applications.

Using Piab’s MICRO COAX cartridges, the world’s smallest multistage vacuum ejector, the piCOMPACT10 range provides three times more vacuum flow than similar products. This reduces energy consumption by 30-50% compared with traditional ejectors, resulting in substantial sustainability benefits as well as energy and cost savings. By offering an increased vacuum flow, piCOMPACT10 ejectors strengthen product grip to increase pickup speed, minimize product damage and reduce waste. piCOMPACT10 also allows faster release of products from the suction cups onto the production line for efficiency gains.

Products in the new piCOMPACT10 range are smaller and lighter than conventional ejectors, reducing the total weight of vacuum handling systems. This innovative design allows vacuum systems to move more quickly to increase production capacity.

To help manufacturers achieve high levels of safety in production plants, the piCOMPACT10 vacuum ejectors use compressed air at lower pressure while still offering the same level of performance. This is ideal for handling products in the electronics industry where ejectors that work at low feed pressure are required and safety regulations are becoming stricter.

“Vacuum ejectors today are essential components for an uncounted number of general manufacturing and automation applications across a wide range of industries, with hundreds of specific product requirements. Across the board, manufacturers are seeking improved performance together with reduced total cost of ownership while always considering their impact on the environment,” said Häla El Sheemy Washbrook, VP Marketing and Communication, Piab. “Energy consumption is a key consideration for manufacturers when looking to reduce costs of a complete vacuum system. Working at low pressures with efficient COAX technology, the piCOMPACT10 range increases productivity for small product handling applications, saving money and reducing a manufacturers’ carbon footprint.”

The piCOMPACT10 vacuum ejectors are available in four versions to fit with a variety of systems, including those that require very low feed pressure or extra deep vacuum levels. In addition, the compact ejectors can be easily integrated into existing production lines with no modifications required, and can be quickly configured to meet individual manufacturing needs.

PIAB ann0unced the VGS(TM)3040 vacuum gripper system. The VGS(TM) series of products allows users to increase productivity and lower operating costs. The units offer flexible material handling solutions that reduce energy consumption, have faster response times and improve reliability. Ideal for a variety of industries, the VGS(TM)3040 is ideal for applications throughout the production line like high-speed pick-and-place, packaging, palletizing, fixture holding, woodworking handling, glass handling and automobile part and body assembly.

Each system utilizes an integrated COAX® cartridge, designed to position vacuum power precisely where it’s needed, making maximum use of energy and increasing speed by eliminating line losses and inefficiencies. Vacuum flow levels are dependent on the size of the cartridge integrated in the system. Vacuum power levels are determined by the type of cartridge used, as there are three types to fit most applications.

The VGS(TM) series can be utilized in each step of the manufacturing process to improve efficiency. With advantages such as excellent pick-up and system speed, energy efficiency, high degree of safety, easy dimensioning and reduced risk for leakage, the VGS(TM)3040 offers even more benefits. The combination Vacustat and AQR 02 (atmospheric quick release) can save up to 99% air consumption in a non-porous application. An integrated blow-off check valve makes it possible to get a very reliable positive pressure blow-off system, even in large decentralized vacuum systems. The AQR 02 is the world’s fastest automatic quick release function for a decentralized vacuum ejector pump. Fast release is quite important as quick vacuum response is needed in high speed applications.
