butterfly valves1GF Piping Systems has announced expansion of its large diameter size range for the Wafer Style Type 567 Polypropylene Butterfly Valve to include sizes 14 to 24 inch. This completes the large diameter size offering of 12 to 24 inch and broadens suitability for a wider range of applications. Like the proven smaller sizes in the series, the new larger sized valves feature the double eccentric design, corrosion resistance and complete modularity for easy interchangeability.

The Type 567′s double eccentric off-center design allows the disc to completely disengage from the disc seal, even when partially open. This separation between disc and seal reduces friction and wear for longer service life and minimizes maintenance compared to non-eccentric valves. Additionally, the double eccentric design requires only about half the torque of a traditional boot design, which also reduces wear on the disc seal to further enhance product life. Other advantages of the design include easier manual operation, compatibility with smaller actuators for reduced installation cost and better protection against pressure surges.

These butterfly valves weigh approximately 50 percent less than comparable metal butterfly valves thereby providing easier and faster installation and lower costs. The new large dimensions provide high nominal pressures for increased operation safety. Pressure ratings at 70F are 90 psi for sizes14 to 16 inch, 75 psi for size 18 inch, and 60 psi for sizes 20 to 24 inch. Other features include industry-standard ISO flange mount for easy electric or pneumatic actuation, bi-directional capability and hand wheel. The valve is available with either EPDM or FPM seals, 304 or 316 stainless-steel stem and a Polypropylene body.

Diaphragm Valves Feature Turbulance-Free Flow Geometry

diaphragm valveGF Piping Systems introduced the Type 514-519 High Flow Diaphragm Valve Series, a uniquely designed valve that provides a true break-through for weir style valves. The new valve features an optimized, turbulence-free flow geometry that offers significantly increased flow rate performance and lower energy consumption. These features expand the valve’s suitability for applications where diaphragm valves were previously not considered due to flow restriction.

The valve’s new flow geometry design provides Cv values double the traditional design with values ranging from 3.9 to 116.8, depending on size and end connection. The modified geometry provides linear flow and control characteristics that improve processing stability, resulting in reduced operating costs and more cost-effective media transport. A self-draining feature minimizes dead space and achieves improved hygiene and better resistance to crystallizing fluids.

The innovative valve design also does away with traditional metal bolts required to hold the valve together. Instead, the top-works are threaded directly onto the body, eliminating the need to re-torque the bolts due to thermal expansion. With its metal-free threaded bonnet connection, corrosive build-up is minimized in applications with highly aggressive media.

The Diaphragm Valve Series is available in PVC, CPVC, PP, PVDF, and ABS body materials in sizes 1/2-2″ (with larger sizes available in the 314-319 Series). Diaphragms are available in EPDM, PTFE, FPM and NBR. This material range covers practically the entire spectrum of chemicals with which the diaphragm valves can come into contact, optimizing process compatibility. Standard PVC, CPVC, PP, and ABS versions handle pressures up to 150 PSI while PVDF versions handle pressures up to 240 PSI. End connections include true union, spigot, flanged and zero static. Basic versions of the diaphragm valves are operated manually with a lockable handwheel for protection against unwanted use. An optional self-adjusting electrical feedback unit can be quickly retrofitted, enabling automatic control, piping system regulation and reliable process monitoring.

Additional design features include rounded contours with smooth transitions and radii, which provide less abrasion and noise emission. Color coding on the housing nut and on the housing itself allow easy indication of pressure rating and diaphragm material. A two-color position indicator, which is clearly visible from a distance, shows the actual valve position.

The new valve family can be completely automated with GF Piping Systems’ Pneumatic Actuators DIASTAR 10 (150 PSI) and DIASTAR 16 (240 PSI). Modular design allows easy field installation of the actuator to a manual valve as well as position feedback switches and other accessories.

The new valve series is suitable for extremely contaminated media, media containing solids, and high purity liquids for a variety of applications such as chemical process industry to microelectronics, water treatment, cooling and control.

GF Piping Systems has announced expansion of its large diameter size range for the Type 567 Butterfly Valve to include sizes 14-16. The new size range features a unique double eccentric off-center design and excellent chemical compatibility. Suitable applications include landfills where large size valves are required for drainage of underground leachate. Other applications include industrial water treatment, potable water treatment, swimming pools, water parks and waste water systems in such industries as chemical, chemical distribution, electroplating and power plants.

GF Piping Systems Expands Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve Size, Offering up to 16 Inches

The 567 Valve’s unique double eccentric design features an off-center shaft that allows the disc to completely disengage from the disc seal, even when partially open. This results in reduced seal friction for longer service life and minimal maintenance compared to non-eccentric valve styles. The double eccentric design requires only about half the torque of a traditional boot design, which decreases wear on the disc seal to further enhance product life. Other advantages of this design include easier manual operation, compatibility with smaller actuators for reduced installation cost, and better protection against pressure surges.

The new large size valve features industry-standard ISO flange mount for easy electric or pneumatic actuation with most actuators. Other features include bi-directional capability, pressure rating of 90 psi at 70°F, and hand wheel. The valve is available with either EPDM or FPM seals, 304 or 316 Stainless Steel stem, and a Polypropylene body.
