SAUGET, IL – Trends in technology continue to demand smaller and faster electronics that require high-performance equipment. Shrinking electronics have allowed Universal Air Filter to offer its clients a multi-cooling chamber air filter designed for directional control of cool air from a single fan source to specific locations within the machine needing heat dissipation.

uaf%20multi cooling

Previously, smaller electronic devices promoted an increased use of multiple circuit packs in a single enclosure, and multiple functions that were incorporated into a single, integrated chassis made thermal management more complex. The advanced multi-cooling chamber approach now allows the product to isolate specific areas for cooling, permitting a one-piece assembly to have several different areas that require cool air and that can be offset two-dimensionally. Also, if multiple vents require filtration, this design’s one-frame piece allows for easy installation and the multi-chamber cooling ports permit clean, cool air to be channeled to specific areas.

The multi-cooling chamber air filter is available under UAF’s complimentary, round-the-clock prototype service to design engineers worldwide via its Web site, www.uaf.com. The prototype service provides design engineers with assistance in meeting critical design, testing and evaluation deadlines for multi-cooling chamber media that is used in power generation, military, medical, computer networking and telecom applications. To receive a prototype, the engineer can submit a request on the Internet or via telephone, fax or e-mail. Once the prototype is submitted, it is produced and shipped within five working days.

Universal Air Filter’s multi-cooling chamber media meets the following standards and classifications: UL 94 HF-1; ATCA; UL 900 Class 2; CE Telcordia NEBS GR-78-CORE and GR-63-CORE; micro TCA; ETSI; and are RoHS Compliant.

SAUGET, IL – Universal Air Filter recently announced it will begin producing its 80 PPI Quadrafoam media with a UL 94 HF-1 rating, making them the only commercial air filter producer in this high porosity media class to meet the preferred self-extinguishing flame safety standards.

uaf%20new%20tech%20filters

In order to meet the self-extinguishing flame requirement, UAF designed the media with a higher porosity to improve mist elimination, salt fog and water ingress in outdoor and other harsh environment applications. The 80 PPI media is designed for high dust arrestance applications because current high efficiency filters are typically too bulky for shrinking electrical enclosures and do
not meet the self-extinguishing flame safety standards.

The 80 PPI Quadrafoam media is available for use in power generation, military, medical, computer networking and telecommunications industries and applications.

As with every air filter, UAF offers its complimentary, round-the-clock prototype service to design engineers worldwide at its Web site, www.uaf.com. This service provides design engineers with assistance in meeting critical design, testing and evaluation deadlines. To receive a prototype, the client can submit a request on the Internet or via telephone, fax or e-mail. Once the prototype is submitted, it is produced and shipped within five working days.

SAUGET, Ill.
– Universal Air Filter has added online 3D CAD capabilities for two of its most popular frame models: the Windowpane and Flex-Frame air filters. Now, designers will be able to configure these filters and visualize them from all angles before downloading models into their final designs.

uaf%203d%20cad%20service

Windowpane air filters are the ideal solution to meet the low-profile and edge-to-edge filter needs of communications electronics applications, and they help designers meet the strict requirements of the Telcordia NEBS standards. The Windowpane design offers a sturdy air filter even when the combined thickness of filter media and frame is as thin as one-quarter inch for applications with limited space.

UAF’s Flex-Frame air filters are designed for electronics equipment that cannot accept a rigid air filter frame because of internal chassis obstructions or the necessity to follow a curved track. These frames use flexible, flame retardant, polypropylene plastic frames that meet the stringent filtration and UL 94 flammability requirements of Telcordia NEBS, CE and UL.

Driflex™ Oil Conditioning System

February 9, 2009 by

Sheboygan, WI—Pentair Industrial introduces the Driflex™ Oil Conditioning System for complete removal of free, emulsified and dissolved water from a wide variety of industrial and mobile lubrication and hydraulic systems. On average, oil contamination from dirt and water causes 70-80% of lubricated equipment wear and failures. Driflex decreases water concentration and improves particulate filtration effectiveness to optimize oil condition and minimize equipment wear, reducing maintenance expenses and costly downtime.

pentair%20driflex

Driflex achieves oil dehydration by utilizing the fundamental principles of mass transfer: Moisture diffuses from regions of high concentration to low, such as from oil contaminated with moisture to dry air. First, oil is pumped from its reservoir through Driflex’s high efficiency particle filter, which cleans the oil and protects the system’s dehydration contactor from damage. The oil then flows through Driflex’s dehydration contactor while extremely dry air sweeps over the outside. The moisture differential within the contactor causes the moisture to be transferred from the oil to the air, and exhausted out of the system as moisturized air. Environmentally, no wastewater or other disposables are generated in the process—and the oil returns to the reservoir.

Unlike vacuum purifiers, Driflex is cost-effective, conveniently sized and easy to maintain—with no moving parts or flow/level controls to adjust. Its compact design makes it well suited for periodic use on reservoirs throughout an entire facility. Driflex may also be dedicated to a particular reservoir to provide continuous conditioning, ensuring that oil is optimized without the fluctuations in water concentration that occur with periodic oil purification or replacement.

This advanced oil conditioning technology leads to significant savings in operation and maintenance expenses. For example, decreasing water concentration from 250 ppm to 40 ppm can triple bearing life, reducing replacement and labor costs—and increasing overall profitability. With its simple, reliable operation, Driflex enhances equipment performance and optimizes service life—at a cost-effective price.
