Wilkerson (www.wilkersoncorp.com), a manufacturer of compressed air treatment components and control products, has introduced the WRA102 Series of Standard High Precision Regulator.
Featuring a maximum supply pressure of 500 psig (35.0 bar), the regulator comes with an aluminum body and housing while offering a control sensitivity of .251 inches (.32 cm) water column, making it suitable for use in precision processes.
The company has specifically developed the WRA102 Regulator for applications requiring accurate process control and high capacity. Pressure balanced supply valve protects the setpoint from being affected by changes in supply pressure, while optional check valve allows dumping of downstream pressure whenever supply is opened to atmosphere.
To eliminate buzzing and hunting, an independent control chamber separates the diaphragm from the main flow. Downstream pressure droop is compensated by an aspirator tube.
Using a rolling diaphragm, a poppet valve is balanced to ensure constant output pressure during various supply variations. An aspirator tube helps maintain the stability of regulated pressure under different flow conditions by adjusting the air supply according to the flow velocity.
Wilkerson’s WRA102 Series controls the movement of the valve assembly, which in turn controls the output pressure, through the force balance principal. Upon adjusting the regulator at a specified set point, the Positive Bias Spring’s downward force pushes the Diaphragm Assembly downward, opening the Supply Valve and eventually allowing air to pass through the Outlet Port. When the set point is reached, the downward force of the Positive Bias Spring is thereafter balanced by the downstream pressure of the Diaphragm Assembly. This moves the Supply Valve upward, reducing the air flow at the Outlet Port.
The balance of forces on the top and bottom of the Diaphragm Assembly helped maintain the outlet pressure.
